Physicist, finished machine-building faculty of Bauman MSTU (1972). Works in MSU Faculty of Physics since 1972. Area of research interests — molecular physics, physical hydro- and gas dynamics, physics of combustion, and explosive processes. Ph.D. (1980) and Grand Doctor (1995) in Physics and Mathematics, professor (1998), head of the Molecular physics Chair (since 2002). Director of Center of Hydrophysical Research (since 1991). Deputy Dean of MSU Faculty of Physics for Research (1998-2011), dean of MSU Faculty of Physics (2011-2022).

In 1991 defeated PhD thesis "Parametric light scattering in periodically inhomogeneous ferroelectrics". In 2001 defeated Grand Doctor thesis "Interference of biphoton fields". In present days is actively involved in the development of experimental methods in the area of quantum optics, quantum cryptography, and optical quantum computing.
